As many as 12 people have fallen sick after consuming suspected contaminated water in Tippanatagi village, Shorapur taluk of Yadgir district, in the last two days.
The affected residents have been given treatment at a makeshift out-patient department set up in the village.
All of them are out of danger, Taluk Health Officer Raja Venkatappa Naik told The Hindu on Monday.
Meanwhile, the villagers said that three people died due to vomiting and diarrhoea after consuming water supplied to them.
Denying this claim by the villagers, Dr. Naik said, “The three deaths reported in the village were caused by their previous various ailments and not by consuming water.”
The deceased have been identified as 48-year-old Devikamma Hotti, 60-year-old Venkamma and 50-year-old Ramanna.
Dr. Naik further said that water samples have been sent for test and reports are awaited.
“According to the previous test report, the water was potable. We, however, have sent water samples for a test the second time with people falling sick in the last two days,” he added.
