Widespread Rain Predicted in North, South Coastal Andhra from August 13

- The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Amaravati, has forecast ‘fairly widespread’ rainfall for North and South Coastal Andhra pradesh from August 13.

- Rayalaseema region will have no alerts on August 15 and 16; though, earlier on Sunday (August 10), an orange alert was issued for Annamayya and Tirupati districts while a yellow alert was announced for Kadapa, Kurnool, Nandyal, Sri Sathya Sai and Anantapur due to moderate to heavy rain.
- Strong winds (40-50 kmph), lightning storms were reported in Rayalaseema until Sunday night but are not expected Monday onward.
- Rainfall highlights: Veerapuram in sri Sathya Sai district received the highest rainfall of the day with 97 mm followed by Gangadhara Nellore in Chittoor with 71.5 mm.Other parts of Rayalaseema saw up to around 45 mm rainfall over two days that moderately helped address the rain deficit from past months.
