A woman who was set on fire allegedly by her friend after pouring petrol at Kuttiyatoor, Kannur, Kerala, succumbed to her injuries on Thursday. The deceased is Praveena (39), wife of Ajeesh, a native of Uruvachal.
The woman was allegedly set on fire by Jijesh, a native of Kuttavu on Wednesday.
In the incident, Jijesh also suffered burn injuries and is undergoing treatment at Kannur Government Medical College Hospital.
According to the police, Jijesh arrived at Praveena’s rented house and attacked her. Locals rushed to the spot after seeing fire and smoke rising from the house. Both were immediately admitted to the hospital.
The police have booked Jijesh under Section 332 and 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
