T.N. man injured in Pahalgam shifted to Delhi in air ambulance

Tamil Nadu’s special representative in New Delhi A.K.S. Vijayan and Resident Commissioner in Tamil Nadu House in Delhi Ashish Kumar with Parameswaran’s family at AIIMS, Delhi.

A tourist from Tamil Nadu, who sustained injuries in the terror attack near Pahalgam in Kashmir, was shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi in an air ambulance on Thursday.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin spoke to the family member of Dr. Parameswaran, who was initially treated in Kashmir and was later shifted to AIIMS in the national capital on Thursday afternoon. The CM enquired about the medical treatment and assured all necessary support from the Tamil Nadu government.

On arrival in Delhi, TN’s special representative in New Delhi A.K.S. Vijayan and Resident Commissioner in TN House in the national capital Ashish Kumar accompanied the patient to AIIMS, New Delhi, an official release said.

Meanwhile, IAS officer Aftab Rasool, a native of Kashmir serving in Tamil Nadu, has been deputed to Pahalgam area to coordinate efforts to help TN tourists. Batches of tourists from TN, visiting various parts of Kashmir started arriving in Chennai.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai airport, the tourists said that drivers, security personnel and locals, helped them to return following the terror attack. Soon after the attack, they returned to their hotel, as military personnel took over the site.

“We got to know that the Tamil Nadu government has set up a helpline. We contacted them and informed them about us,” said Mr. Subramanian, one of the tourists, who returned to Chennai. “Officials in the Tamil Nadu House helped us to reach Chennai and arrangements have been made to help them reach Madurai,” said Divya, another tourist.
