The Srikakulam district administration has put special focus on tourism development, thanks to the availability of beaches in different parts of the district. The government has identified that beaches in places like Kalingapatnam, Ranasthalam, Baruva, Bhavanapadu , and Kaviti would be able to attract more tourists if more facilities are provided there.
Collector Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar directed the Srikakulam Tourism Officer N. Narayana Rao to prepare a project report on the opportunities to develop the existing beaches. He suggested that the historic Kalingapatnam beach could be developed under the Swadeshi Darshan scheme for which the government would allocate funds.
“We have been inviting entrepreneurs to develop the beaches with water sports and other facilities which can attract more tourists in near future. The administration will ensure quick processing of their applications,” Mr. Swapnil Dinakar told the media here.
Eco-friendly tourism projects would be developed in forest areas also with the consent of the higher authorities of the Forest Department, he added.
