Kadamakudy, a hidden gem nestled amidst the serene waters of Vembanad Lake where nature’s beauty and captivating glimpses of village life go hand in hand, received a shot in the arm when Anand Mahindra, chairman of the Mahindra Group, praised the beautiful village and posted a photo of the destination in ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). He is scheduled to visit the spot in December.
The post went viral in seconds, with the post enlivening the imagination of the travel buffs across the country. “Kadamakudy in Kerala. Often listed amongst the most beautiful villages on earth… On my bucket list for this December, since I’m scheduled to be on a business trip to Kochi, which is just a half hour away,” Mr. Mahindra wrote on X.
Kadamakudy, a cluster of scenic islands surrounded by backwaters, paddy fields, fish farming, toddy tapping and other rustic village scenes and activities, located 15 km away from Kochi, is famous among the travellers who wish to discover the tranquil charm and sustainable living practices. Two years ago, a post shared by Mr. Mahindra changed the fortunes of Kollengode, a quaint village in Palakkad, with a steady flow of tourists to the picturesque destination in central Kerala. He had then shared the list of 10 of the most beautiful villages in India, including Kollengode on his social media page.
According to a senior Tourism department official, the uniqueness of the destination is its unique natural beauty. The rustic village life and the sunset are the main attractions in the destination, which is mainly frequented by people from nearby regions and north Indian tourists. However, the destination offers a lot to the travel enthusiast. The scheduled visit of Mr. Mahindra may bring more attention to Kadamakudy, enhancing the interest in sustainable tourism practices in the region, added the official.
