Kozhikode: The 41st State conference of the Indian Psychiatric Society, organised by the Calicut Psychiatric Guild, will be held at Hotel Tiara in Kozhikode from August 22 to 24. Around 300 psychiatrists from across Kerala and other States are expected to attend the conference. In addition, around 300 postgraduate students from various medical colleges across the country will also participate. The event will begin with a public awareness programme on August 22, where members of the public will have the opportunity to interact with leading psychiatrists from across India. During the conference, around 60 theses on various topics related to psychiatry will be presented. An international symposium on the challenges of implementing the Mental Health Care Act will also be conducted. Other highlights of the conference include the presentation of awards to eminent psychiatrists, induction of the new office-bearers of the Kerala chapter, a psychiatry quiz for MBBS students, a gold medal examination for house surgeons, and around 30 stalls showcasing various aspects of psychiatry.
