A 40-year-old man suffered severe burns all over his body as he got stuck in the middle of a fire pit while passing through it during the Muharram celebrations in Yaragunti village of Lingsugur taluk, Raichur district, late on Saturday night.
He has been identified as Hanumanth, a native of Yaraganti village.
A video captured on a mobile phone has gone viral and people who witnessed the incident were shocked.
Those who were gathered around the fire pit pulled him out from the flames after hectic efforts.
He was immediately shifted to the Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) where he is getting treatment. Sources said that his condition is critical.
The incident was reported from the Lingsugur Police limits.
