A coffee-grower died after being attacked by an Indian gaur at Durgadahalli in Mudigere taluk of Karnataka on July 6.

52-year-old D.V. Ramesh Gowda encountered the wild animal while working in his coffee estate. Workers in the neighbouring estate heard him screaming for help.

Ramesh Gowda succumbed to injuries on the way to a hospital at Kalasa.

He is survived by his wife and a son.

Balur police have registered a case.

The local people have demanded a permanent solution to the menace of wild animals in the area. They urged the government of Karnataka to take a measures to put an end to the human-animal conflict.
