A 38-year-old journalist returning home from work was allegedly harassed by a car driver in an instance of road rage on the busy New Thousand Road in J. B. Nagar police station limits in Bengaluru on July 2.

According to the complaint, the journalist was riding home in her scooter around 9.45 p.m. when a car brushed her vehicle. When she objected, the driver allegedly blocked her way, obstructing traffic. He allegedly snatched the bike key, abused and threatened her, and created a ruckus, according to the complainant.

The journalist called the police control room for help. However, by the time help arrived, the accused had fled the scene after returning the bike key. By then, the journalist had clicked pictures of the car.

Based on her complaint, J. B. Nagar police initially registered a Non Cognizable Report (NCR). The police tracked down the accused with the help of the car’s registration number, which was provided by the complainant, but the man reportedly refused to come to the police station. As a result, the police registered an FIR booking the accused under Sections 126(2) (wrongful restrain) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023.
