Members of the Tamil Nadu Government Village Health Nurse Welfare Association (TNGVHWA) and Village, Sector, and Community Health Nurses Federation staged a sit-in protest near the District Collectorate complex here to press for their demands.
The association was demanding, among other things, filling of vacancies of Village Health Nurse (VHN) in the State, provision of rent-free quarters for nuses, and promotion of women VHNs to Grade 1 posts.
“The services provided by trained VHNs in a timely manner is essential to protect the life of the mother and child. Therefore, we request the authorities concerned to fill the vacant posts at the earliest,” said K. Komathi, State President, TNGVHNWA.
