A man, hailing from Srinivaspura, was arrested for killing his wife at their house in Bommanahalli over a domestic row on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Harish Kumar, a civil engineer earlier worked at a private firm and is currently unemployed, was booked for the murder of his wife, identified as Padmaja, 29, who is also an engineer employed at a private firm in the city.
The couple had two daughters aged 3.5 and 1.5 years old.
Sarah Fathima, DCP, South East division, said that the couple hailed from Srinivasapura and were staying in Bengaluru.
According to the police, the accused used to come home drunk and pick fights with the victim over trivial issues. On the day of the incident, Harish and Padmaja argued over the latter’s shopping. As the arguments escalated, Harish reportedly strangled Padmaja, assaulted her, and, in a fit of rage, stamped on her neck after she fell on the ground.
The police said that the accused took the victim to a nearby hospital when she was motionless, but the doctors declared her dead and alerted the police. During the inquiry, the 3.5-year-old daughter of the couple narrated the incident to the officials, the police said.
