– Kochi police arrested three individuals during two separate raids under Operation D Hunt, seizing nearly 25 grams of suspected MDMA and over 26 grams of ganja.
– In the first case, two suspects: Yasar Arafath (34) and Rincy Mumtaz (32), a popular YouTuber from Kozhikode, were apprehended with approximately 20.55 grams of MDMA. Police allege Rincy used her social media profile for distributing drugs and operated out of a rented flat in Palachuvadu with her partner Yasar.- In the second raid at Mattummal near Cheranalloor,Muhammed Rafeeq (28) from Kollam was arrested with allegedly possessing 2.80 grams of MDMA and over 26 grams of ganja.
– A man named Elam Shikh (29) from West bengal was arrested under a special squad operation in Perumbavoor. The police reportedly seized approximately 1.30 kilograms of ganja along with packaging materials and targeted satchels priced at ₹500 each aimed primarily at migrant workers.
The recent arrests by Kerala Police highlight an escalating issue surrounding drug distribution networks targeting young people and vulnerable communities like migrant workers within urban hubs such as Kochi and Perumbavoor. The involvement of a public figure like a YouTuber raises concerns about the influence such personalities could wield in illegal trade while leveraging their reach to unsuspecting audiences.
Operation D Hunt appears to be an intensified crackdown on drug trafficking; however, these incidents underscore the challenge for authorities attempting to dismantle refined supply chains that exploit social platforms or economic vulnerabilities among communities.
The case also emphasizes the importance vigilance plays for law enforcement-be it monitoring suspicious locations or tracking possible suppliers across regional borders-which could signal broader accountability efforts ahead across similar hotspots around India.Read More:
