Stock market update: Power stocks up as market rises

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Wednesday at 10:59AM

Jaiprakash Power Ventures Ltd.(up 10.47%), Orient Green Power Company Ltd.(up 6.60%), India Power Corporation Ltd.(up 6.53%), Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd.(up 5.78%), Indo Tech Transformers Ltd.(up 5.00%), Karma Energy Ltd.(up 4.16%), Jyoti Structures Ltd.(up 4.06%), Indowind Energy Ltd.(up 3.89%), Reliance Power Ltd.(up 3.77%) and Ravindra Energy Ltd.(up 3.70%) were among the top gainers.

Power and Instrumentation(Gujarat)Ltd.(down 1.31%), Hitachi Energy India Ltd.(down 1.17%) and GE Vernova T&D India Ltd.(down 1.12%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 65.05 points up at 22899.35, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was up 174.12 points at 75475.38 at around 10:59AM.

Shriram Finance Ltd.(up 4.02%), Tata Steel Ltd.(up 2.56%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(up 2.11%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone Ltd.(up 2.05%), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(up 2.01%), IndusInd Bank Ltd.(up 1.99%), JSW Steel Ltd.(up 1.72%), NTPC Ltd.(up 1.62%), Coal India Ltd.(up 1.52%) and HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 1.37%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.(down 2.08%), Infosys Ltd.(down 1.78%), Tech Mahindra Ltd.(down 1.49%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 1.49%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(down 0.97%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 0.94%), ITC Ltd.(down 0.88%), Nestle India Ltd.(down 0.62%), Cipla Ltd.(down 0.54%) and Eicher Motors Ltd.(down 0.51%) were trading in the red.
