Virat Kohli’s Name Flashed Instead Of Josh Hazlewood By IPL Broadcaster During KKR vs RCB

The moment happened at the beginning of the match between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Josh Hazlewood emerged as the bowler from RCB’s side, and traditionally, the bowler’s name would flash in the live broadcast’s score graphic.

However, instead of the Australian cricketer’s name, star batter Virat Kohli’s name flashed on the TV screens. The broadcasters were quick to change the graphic, but the fans were quick to notice the goof-up and had a field day on social media.

RCB Secure Win At IPL 2025 Season Opener, beat KKR By 7 Wickets

It was a lucky day for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, as openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli led an explosive attack against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. The defending champions’ bowling attack had little impact, with Salt scoring 56 and Kohli going on to an unbeaten 59 to help RCB in the run chase. The Kolkata Knight Riders managed to pick up three wickets, but the momentum did not shift in their favour because the damage had already been done by RCB. The dew factor proved to be extremely beneficial for the team, as they chased down the target in 16.2 overs.

Ajinkya Rahane scored 56 off 31 for the Kolkata Knight Riders, boosting the team’s momentum after losing opener Quinton de Kock early. The dismissal temporarily rocked the Knight Riders, but Rahane came into the attack at Eden Gardens with a superb half-century, and Sunil Narine supported him throughout the game. KKR attempted to score 200 runs in the forest game, but their middle-order collapse proved ineffective against RCB’s bowling lineup. They went on a wicket-taking spree, with Krunal Pandya taking three wickets and Josh Hazlewood halting KKR’s momentum with two dismissals, resulting in the Knights scoring a disappointing 174 against RCB in the first innings.
