The Balanagar police of the Cyberabad commissionerate on Monday returned 69 lost or stolen mobile phones worth ₹15.26 lakh to their rightful owners. The recovery was made through the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, which enabled tracking of the devices using their IMEI numbers.
The recovered phones were formally handed over at an event held at Jeedimetla police station. Of the total of 69 mobile phones recovered, the highest number, 36 devices worth ₹8.11 lakh, were traced in Jeedimetla. Sanathnagar followed with 23 mobiles valued at ₹4.25 lakh. Balanagar police station recovered seven phones worth ₹2.10 lakh, while Jagadgirigutta accounted for three handsets worth ₹80,000.
Police urged citizens who have lost mobile phones to promptly register complaints and utilise the CEIR portal for assistance in tracking and recovering their devices.
