HDFC Bank will implement a series of changes in its credit card transaction charges, impacting users who engage in online gaming, wallet loading, utility bill payments, and more. These modifications include the introduction of new charges on specific types of high-value transactions, revised reward point policies, and capping of fees across several categories. Cardholders should review these updates carefully to understand how their monthly spending patterns may be impacted. The below changes will be effective from July 1, 2025.
If you spend more than Rs 10,000 per month on online skill-based gaming platforms like Dream11, Rummy Culture, Junglee Games, MPL, or similar websites, you will be charged a 1% fee on the total monthly spend in this category. This payment will be restricted at Rs 4,999 per month. Additionally, no Reward Points will be acknowledged for any transactions involving online skill-based gaming.

If you use your HDFC Bank credit card to load more than Rs 10,000 into third-party digital wallets like PayTM, Mobikwik, Freecharge, or Ola Money in a single month, a 1% fee will be applied to the total amount loaded into the wallet. This fee shall not exceed Rs 4,999 per month.
If monthly expenditure on HDFC Bank credit cards surpasses Rs 50,000 for consumer cards and Rs 75,000 for business cards, a 1% fee will be applied to utility bill payments made with these cards. This fee will be capped at Rs 4,999 and would be applied to the entire monthly utility expenditure. However, no fees will be applied to insurance transactions because they are not considered utility payments.
Charges upper cap revision:
The maximum charge per transaction for rent, fuel, and education categories has been capped at Rs 4,999. The existing 1% transaction fee will continue to apply on all rent payments. For fuel transactions, the charge will only apply if the transaction amount exceeds Rs 15,000 or Rs 30,000, depending on the specific transaction threshold. In the case of education payments, the 1% fee will be applicable only when payments are made through third-party apps. However, no charges will be levied if the payments are made directly through college or school websites or their point-of-sale (POS) machines.
Insurance Transactions:
Reward Points will be awarded on insurance transactions; however, they will be subject to a monthly cap based on the specific credit card variant, as outlined in the table below.
Product | Capping (Rps per month) |
Infinia, Infinia Metal | 10,000 |
Diners Black, Diners Black Metal, Biz Black Metal | 5,000 |
Rest of the cards | 2,000 |
Please note: For credit cards such as Millennia, UPI, BIZ UPI, Swiggy, BIZ First, Paytm, Paytm Business, Easy EMI Millennia, Best Price Save Smart, and Bharat, the existing reward point capping as per their respective product features will remain unchanged. Meanwhile, Marriot Bonvoy credit cards will continue to enjoy uncapped reward points on insurance transactions.
