Four brothers have been arrested for the brutal murder of a 63-year-old lorry driver that took place in Sudireddypalle of Kurnool mandal a week back. The accused allegedly chopped the victim’s leg off after killing him and brandished it while moving on a motorcycle in the village.
The murder took place on July 1 evening when the victim, Kuruva Seshanna, was sleeping at his daughter’s residence in the village.
Producing the accused before the media on Monday (July 7, 2025), Kurnool Deputy Superintendent of Police J Babu Prasad said the main accused Kuruva Parasuramudu had a grouse over the victim as the latter was making derogatory comments against his wife and was damaging her character in front of the village.
On the day of killing, Parasuramudu along with his brothers Vijay Kumar alias Kumar, Govindu alias Choudhary, and Beesanna entered the house and attacked Seshanna with hunting sickles pushing away his daughter.
“The victim was fast asleep and he was also under a state of intoxication as he took some medicines for headache and he could not resist. The accused inflicted serious injuries killing Seshanna instantly due to excessive blood loss. The attackers later chopped the left leg of the victim, took it on the motorcycle in the streets and threw it in bushes near the police station and fled,” Mr. Babu Prasad said.
Police took the four accused into custody near Venkanna Baavi in the village on Sunday evening and produced them before a court on Monday.
The DSP said they would seek early trial of the case and ensure conviction as it was brutal in nature and the manner in which the accused created a fear among the villagers by brandishing the chopped leg in full public glare. On the occasion, the DSP asked people to approach the police to get their grievances resolved and not to take hasty steps. “Police will take stringent action, if anyone resorts to brutal acts,” he warned.
