The Golconda police on Sunday apprehended a habitual offender in connection with a house burglary reported in Naya Qila, Golconda.

The accused, Mohammed Mujahid Qureshi alias Javeed, 31, a resident of Kattelmandi, who worked in tin shed construction was arrested at Jamali Darwaza. The police recovered the stolen ₹70,000 in cash, a mobile phone, an iron rod measuring 44.5 cm, two hand gloves and a black face mask from his possession.

The arrest follows a complaint by Ameer Khatoon stating that an unidentified individual broke into the house, forcing open the locks and decamping with ₹70,000 in cash, a gold ring and a pair of gold earrings, together worth approximately ₹80,000.

Investigation revealed that Qureshi is a repeat offender with a history of involvement in at least six criminal cases across Hyderabad and Maharashtra.
