Telangana High Court on Monday served notices on five private respondents in PIL petition filed by four ruling Congress party MLAs seeking a direction to the State government to reclaim 27.18 acres of land allotted in violation of rules to private parties, who were building high-rise structures there.

A bench of Acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Renuka Yara permitted the counsel for the four MLAs, Chikkudu Prabhakar, to personally serve the notices to the five private persons made respondents in the PIL plea. Congress MLAs Janampally Anirudh Reddy, Yennam Srinivas Reddy, Murali Nayak Bhukya and Kuchkulla Rajesh Reddy filed the PIL plea that a large extent of land adjacent to Khajaguda Lake in Rajendranagar was allotted to private persons by official machinery against the rules.

The four legislators sought several reliefs including an order to the State government to take back the land from the private persons, since several rules were breached from the proposal to allot the land to the private parties during BRS rule to ratification of the allotment during the present government.

When the PIL plea came up for hearing for the first time on June 16, the petitioners’ counsel sought time with the bench pointing out that the petitioners did not specifically mention the survey numbers of the government land which were allotted to the private persons. As per the bench’s suggestion, the petitioners submitted representations from the Tahasildar of Serilingmapally to the Chief Secretary and Chief Commissioner of Land Administration explaining how rules were breached in allotting the land to the private persons and construction of high-rise buildings were going in the said land, part of which came under Full Tank Level of Khajaguda lake.

Following submissions made by the petitioners’ counsel, the bench permitted him to serve personal notices to the private parties before adjourning the matter for two weeks.
