A family of four, residents of Kompally were burnt alive in a car crash in Greene Country of United States on July 6.
The victims, identified as Sri Venkat, his wife Tejaswini, and their two young children, were allegedly on a vacation, travelling from Atlanta to Dallas, when their car was reportedly struck head-on by a mini-truck that was driving the wrong way in Greene County, leading to a fire.
All four occupants were trapped inside the vehicle and perished at the scene, their bodies burnt beyond recognition. The intensity of the blaze left the car completely gutted, prompting authorities to initiate DNA testing to establish their identities.
The family had reportedly been living in the U.S. for a few years. An official from the Petbasheerabad police said that the relatives of the family have left for the U.S. to collect the bodies. The final rites are expected to be performed in India, following the completion of formalities.
Officials from the Indian consulate are coordinating with U.S. authorities to expedite the process, while the cause of the accident in under investigation.
