- The Karnataka government has approved the establishment of residential schools for children of construction workers in 31 districts.
- These schools will provide free quality education from classes 6 to 12, as announced by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the 2025-26 budget.

- A total cost of ₹1,125.25 crore was estimated for establishing these institutions, with additional allocations for furniture (₹3 crore) and laboratory equipment (₹75 lakh).
- Facilities at each school include classrooms, laboratories, libraries, hostels for boys and girls, dining halls, kitchens, residential quarters for teachers, sports facilities, among others.Each school will occupy an area close to 2 acres.
