Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has appointed Manjunatha T.M., director, School of Humanities & Liberal Arts, Maharani Cluster University, Bengaluru, as acting Vice-Chancellor (V-C) of Maharani Cluster University.
His term will end on October 16, 2025 (date of the end of directorship), or until a regular Vice-Chancellor is appointed or until further orders, whichever is earlier, according to the notification.
The tenure of Vice-Chancellor Gomathi Devi L., came to an end on November 8, 2024.
Ushadevi C., director of the School of Home Sciences, was appointed under Section 16(2) of the Karnataka State Universities Act, 2000, to act as the V-C of the university. Ushadevi attained superannuation on March 31, 2025. Subsequently, Meera B.K., the senior-most professor of the university, was appointed to act as V-C until a regular Vice-Chancellor was appointed. However, Manjunatha had challenged this appointment in the court and won the case, following which he has now been appointed as acting V-C.
