Monsoon Rains 7% Above Normal, Unevenly Distributed

  • most other states experienced “normal” rainfall levels within ±19% of average values; these include Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal among others.
  • Deficient Rainfall:

– Arunachal Pradesh (-45%) recorded only half its usual precipitation (521.8 mm against normal of 942.2 mm).
– Bihar showed a similar shortfall with rainfall down by over one-third at just 272mm – (-43% below usual figures).

  • Previous IMD forecasts in May predicted India would generally experience “above-normal” monsoon across most territories but identified pockets likely facing lesser accumulations like Ladakh or northeast.

Monsoon rains remain integral for India’s critical agricultural economy contributing supporting both GDP’s production fabric-beta impacts(domestic utility rain system inter linking).
