NKDA outreach camps net Rs 83 lakh in property tax, mutation fees

KOLKATA: The

New Town Kolkata Development Authority

(NKDA) has collected approximately Rs 83 lakh from property tax and

mutation fees

from the outreach camps organised in different housing complexes across New Town in the last three months. The authorities plan to hold additional camps in the months ahead, extending the initiative to commercial units as well.

The outreach camps were held at different housing complexes like Sukhobristi Housing, Rosedale, Unitech, and a few others over a period of 14 days. A total of 75 property tax assessments were submitted, with Rs 39 lakh in property tax revenue collected. Additionally, a total of 101 mutation applications were submitted and as the authorities collected Rs 44 lakh in mutation fees.
“The aim of holding these camps was to expedite the process of collecting long-pending property tax arrears by facilitating on-the-spot payment options, streamlining the mutation process by providing real-time assistance and enhancing public participation through targeted awareness campaigns. We want more tax payers to pay taxes in time to avoid defaulting,” said an NKDA official.
Officials said additional camps would be organised in the coming months, extending the initiative to commercial units and establishments doing business in New Town.
