The Rajanukunte police busted a drug racket and arrested three Nigerian nationals peddling MDMA crystals concealed in readymade garment packs and recovered drugs worth ₹4.2 crore.
Based on a tip-off, a team of police kept a close watch on the house for a few days and raided it to recover 2.8 kilos of MDMA crystals, 350 g of Hydro ganja, ₹2 lakh cash and seven mobile phones worth ₹4.5 crore from them, C.K. Baba, Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru rural district said.
Explaining the modus operandi of drug peddling, Mr. Baba said that the accused would conceal the drugs in cardboard strips that is used to pack readymade clothes and deliver it to their customers to hoodwink enforcement agencies.
The trio had come to India on medical visas in December 2024, and stayed in Delhi before moving to Bengaluru. They over stayed after their visa expired to peddle drugs. The accused had made elaborate arrangements to ensure security and rented out a house using false identity and were staying in the house to pack and deliver the drugs. The accused would monitor unusual movements outside the house all the time.
It seems like they are only a part of a bigger network and we suspect others are involved, Mr. Baba said adding that the investigations are on to ascertain the involvement of others. The accused did not have any previous criminal history and it was the first time they were arrested, he added. The police are further investigating to ascertain the source of the drugs and their peddling network as well.
