Yann LeCun is an AI expert that claims that generative AI and the current approaches to AI need to be abandoned.
He says that the failure to achieve level 5 self driving cars and very capable humanoid bots shows that LLM are a failure.
Tesla has again stated that they will have unsupervised robotaxi starting as a paid service in Austin in June 2025. Level 5 self driving will be in 2026 when the Tesla system has been expanded generally across the United States, China and Europe.
The Tesla Optimus humanoid bots will have about 50,000 made in 2026. They should be sold to non-Tesla customers. Other humanoid bot companies are looking to provide them for home use. Successful commercialization of useful humanoid bots for home and factory use would show that Yann LeCun is wrong about AI being fundamentally flawed.

Chinese FSD testers were blown away and couldn’t believe what happened. FSD was looking for road entrance in a big open lot. No markings on the ground. No signs. FSD recognized not going off the edge of the lot. It almost looked like FSD AI was conscious, sort of knowing what it… pic.twitter.com/bL5nhRoxeq

Shows the scalability of Tesla’s generalized solution to autonomy. No HD maps, no sensor over load, just looks outside and drives, like humans. https://t.co/izBRiI5W42
