The Ayyampuzha police have registered a case of unnatural death after recovering suspected human body parts from a pond formed in a defunct quarry at Erappu near Ayyampuzha on Saturday (September 20). The decomposed remains were shifted to the Kalamassery Medical College Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be held later, the police said.
The police said it was yet to be confirmed if the suspected body parts were those of a man or a woman. The remains, which had clothing on them, were found by two children who went to fish in the pond on Friday (September 19). The pond is said to be 40 feet deep.
The police had inspected the spot on Friday evening after local residents alerted them.
