UPI Rule Changes from August 1: Key Updates on Autopay and Balance Checks

- The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) will introduce key changes to Unified Payments Interface (UPI) systems beginning August 1, 2025.
- daily Limit of balance Checks: Users can perform a maximum of 50 balance checks per day on a single UPI app to reduce system load.
- Linked Bank Account Views: Users can view their list of linked bank accounts only up to 25 times daily.
- Autopay Transaction Hours: Autopay payments will be processed only during specific time slots-before 10 am, between 1 pm and 5 pm, and after 9:30 pm.
- Failed Transaction Status Checks: Users may check the status of failed transactions up to three times daily; ther must be at least a gap of 90 seconds between each inquiry.
- Recipient Name Displayed Before Payment: Since June 2025, payments show the recipient’s name before confirmation to minimize errors in fund transfers.
