Winnipeg Jets signs defenceman Dylan Samberg to a 3-year contract deal

On July 30, 2025, the Winnipeg Jets and defenseman Dylan Samberg reached an agreement on a 3-year contract extension. The club has announced the contract extension with an average annual value of US$5.75 million.

According to multiple reports, Defenseman Samberg avoided a salary arbitration hearing and signed a three-year contract extension with the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday.Samberg was drafted 43rd overall by the Jets in 2017 and has spent his entire professional career in Manitoba. He appeared in a total of 216 games for the Jets and 64 for the Manitoba Moose in the AHL. The 26-year-old NHL player recorded career-best totals in goals (six), points (20), and/plus-minus rating (plus-34) in 60 games last season.

Besides, he added three assists in 13 playoff games.

Dylan Samberg inks 3-year extension deal

The Winnipeg Jets have signed defenceman Dylan Samberg to a three-year contract extension with an average annual value of US$5.75 million. Samberg made only 60 regular-season appearances last season, after playing a career-high 78 games with Winnipeg during the 2023–24 campaign, during which he was mostly productive overall. The 26-year-old averaged 21:08 of ice time and recorded six goals, 14 assists, 120 blocked shots, 56 hits, 26 PIM, and a plus-34 rating. According to Reuters, Dylan Samberg has totaled 51 points (nine goals, 42 assists) in 216 career games since being selected by Winnipeg in the second round of the 2017 NHL Draft.

Moreover, the Winnipeg Jets also took to their X/Twitter account to share the contract extension with NHL fans. Announcing the inking of the deal, the team posted a poster of Dylan Samberg and wrote, “THREE MORE YEARS OF SAMMY.” Earlier, it was stated that he is only allowed to give a one-year deal as he is eligible for unrestricted free agency next summer. However, the player avoided the restriction and agreed to sign the contract with the Jets.

Dylan Samberg’s journey so far

Dylan Samberg kicked off his professional journey in 2021 with the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, where he managed to score one goal and dish out six assists over 32 games.
